Why big decisions feel blocked in certain years — the role of planetary Dasha cycles

Every life moves through planetary periods — the Mahadasha system in Vedic astrology. A Mahadasha lasts anywhere from 6 to 20 years and shapes the dominant theme of that chapter. Inside each Mahadasha, smaller sub-periods (Antardashas) change the seasonal mood every few months to a couple of years.
This is why some years feel like an open road and others feel like wading through cement, even though your effort, network and intent have not changed.
What the cycle is actually doing
Each Dasha favours a specific kind of action. Jupiter periods reward expansion, study, and partnership. Saturn periods reward consolidation, discipline, and structural cleanup. Rahu periods bring sudden visibility and risk-taking. Mercury periods sharpen communication and analysis. Push against the period and you spend energy with little to show for it. Move with it and the same energy produces compounded outcomes.
Signs you are operating against your current Dasha
- Marketing performs, but revenue stays flat.
- Effort no longer correlates with outcome.
- Decisions you'd normally close in days take months.
- A persistent sense of "the timing feels wrong" — even when nothing factually is.
Using the cycle as a filter
Identify your current Mahadasha and Antardasha. Ask one question of the decision you are weighing: is what I am about to do consistent with what this period rewards? If yes, push. If no, hold or restructure. The reading is not telling you what to do — it is telling you when.
Years that feel blocked are rarely a personal failing. They are an alignment problem. A structured reading turns the next 12 months from a guessing exercise into a clear sequence of action and patience.
